Visiting Tarangire / Ngorongoro / Olduvai Gorge / Serengeti
 


 Day 1 –
 At 2.00pm after a safari briefing you depart Arusha and drive to Tarangire, a distance of 120 kms.  The park covers 2,600 sq kms.  It is on the traditional migration route of several species of wildlife and its resident population of elephants make the park a rewarding and spectacular game viewing experience.  Viewing game en route drive to your lodge inside the park for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 -
Spend the morning on a game drive.  This park comes to life in the dry season when the drought on the surrounding plains causes the animals to congregate around the Tarangire River.  Herds of wildebeest, zebra, elephants and buffalo are frequently seen, along with good lion and leopard spotting possibilities.   After lunch, exit the park and drive to the Ngorongoro Crater which at 18 kms across & 610 metres deep is the largest unbroken caldera in the world.  Your lodge is perched on the rim of the crater offering breath taking views.  Dinner and overnight.

Day 3 –
This morning you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater to spend the day tracking wildlife on the crater floor.  This natural amphitheater is home to a vast concentration of animals and is the best place to see the black rhino.  Diverse habitats of forest, swamp, grassland and lake make it an exciting area to explore.  After an extended morning of adventure and a delicious picnic lunch, return to your lodge.  
(Your crater permit is valid for 6 hours)  Relax by the pool while the fiery sun makes its dramatic exit, and spreads its glow over the crater.  Dinner and overnight.

Day 4 

After an early breakfast depart for Olduvai Gorge, the site where the Leaky family discovered fossils of early man.  You then drive to the Serengeti, a distance of 175 kms.  The Serengeti is the first, largest, and most famous of Tanzania’s national parks. With its vast rolling plains, flat-topped acacias, and huge herds of animals, this is just what you expect Africa to be.  A picnic lunch will be provided at a picturesque site.  Game drive en route to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 –
On morning and afternoon game drives explore the vast Serengeti in depth.  The open woodland and plains are ideal places to observe predators.  Lions, foxes, hyenas and cheetahs are just some of the animals often sighted pacing the plains.  The wealth and diversity of birds is just staggering.  Ostriches, secretary birds and bustards wander along,  vultures and eagles are abundant; and the sunbirds, king fishers and colorful rollers and bee-eaters are well represented.  Perhaps the most distinctive small bird is the lilac-breasted roller, an exquisitely colored creature often seen perched on trees along the roadside.  Lunch, dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 6 –
After breakfast depart on your last game drive in the Serengeti en route to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Arusha.   You will be met on arrival in Arusha and taken for lunch after which your tour ends.   A Wildersun representative  will be on hand to assist you with any further arrangements you may require.
